Welcome to Part 7b  in the blog series entitled, “Win Clients with Ease”.

Confidence in your own self and your abilities to run your own business or increase your work productivity is one of the keys to business mastery. Your confidence is determined by your levels of self esteem, beliefs you hold around your self and the thought patterns you create in your mind which have been created through our conditioning from the time we were born. Confidence is innate, it was there to begin with before the world got its hands on you.

Confidence gives rise to charisma, that intangible quality, that magnetic ‘X-factor’ that can make you irresistible (I don’t mean in the romantic sense in this context!) to prospective clients.

Thoughts create your emotional state, drive your behaviour and will affect how you present your self to others. Those behaviours – when positive – will turn into positive, constructive action.

Knowing what you want, focus, drive, determination, tenacity and taking action spring from confidence in yourself.

Most people are very busy. Especially if they are juggling both business and family life and other responsibilities. This can mean endless to-do lists and often leading to feelings of overwhelm.

It does not have to be this way.

You can have a busy life and still have a quiet mind.

Busy on the outside, quiet on the inside.

If your mind is constantly busy, full of noise and cluttered thinking, it can give rise to the following problems:

  • Unproductive action (procrastination)
  • Inconsistent action (fluctuating levels of motivation and procrastination)
  • Obsessive action (usually due to the above two issues), and at the detriment to other things that need your attention)
  • Inaction and stagnation
  • Avoidance altogether

The quality of your thoughts and state of mind creates behaviours causing you to undertake certain actions.

Clarity of thought  leads to a more contented state of mind paving the way towards an inner confidence and a sense of well-being.

Confidence with a clarity of mind and a sense of well-being will enable you to create or spot opportunities and pursue them more easily.

To be more tenacious and persistent.

To allow you to step out of your comfort zone.

To be flexible where necessary.

To be increasingly focused and less distracted.

To embrace change more easily.

To be unaffected by others’ negativity or criticisms. That says alot about them, not you.

To be confident with a clear mind and a sense of well-being enables you to be comfortable in your own skin and happy with who you are.

So how do you perceive yourself?

Ask yourself this question and write down what springs to mind.

Who are you?

Again, write down your answers.

You may not be who you think you are.

And more than you think. You are more than your name, your status, your achievements, your profession, your roles.

When you look in the mirror, what are you thinking?

Are you kind, encouraging, supportive and compassionate to yourself or are you harsh, negative and judging?

Or somewhere between the two?

To begin building healthy levels of self-esteem you must first choose to be kind to yourself and then start to love and accept yourself. To love oneself is simply to be kind, compassionate and loving towards yourself. This is the first step towards healthy self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence.

Put yourself in the driver’s seat. Whatever situation you find yourself, you can set your destination and take control.

You are in charge of your mind even though at times it may not feel that way.

Your thoughts affect your internal feelings, emotions and influence your actions and behaviour.

The quality of your thoughts will create your reality, and the perception around yourself, others and your external environment. The quality of your thinking will also affect your level of self-confidence.

Be aware of the quality of your internal chatter.

Positive thoughts = greater confidence.

Quieter mind = inner peace.

High quality of thought + inner peace = greater confidence, contentment, productive action, increased success.

The first step is to understand where your thinking and confidence is currently at. Notice if there’s anything holding you back and ask yourself what is the first step you can take to move forwards if that unhelpful thinking was no longer there.

Change always starts with the first step.
